His passion and dedication to the game of softball resulted in enshrinement to multiple Halls of Fame, including the National Softball Hall of Fame (1989), the ISF Hall of Fame (1997) and the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame (2005). In addition to his various inductions, Loechner also received the J. Freeland Chryst Award for achieved excellence and success in 2005.
Prior to his most previous role as Commissioner for USA Softball of Pennsylvania, Loechner served as President for USA Softball from 1986-1987, while also having appointments as Chairman for the Finance Committee and the Foreign Relations and Membership Committee. Additionally, Loechner garners various USA Softball Benchmark Awards in recognition of his excellence in umpire registrations for the state of Pennsylvania. Extending his contributions to the international level, Loechner spans a 23-year tenure as the Secretary General for the ISF and served as the Chief of Staff for the Atlanta Olympics, Sydney Olympics and Athens Olympics. His efforts eventually earned him the ISF Medal of Honor, which is known to be the highest level of recognition an individual can receive within the organization.
His love for the game of softball began as a player on the fields of Rodney Park in Lancaster, Pa., where he starred for several teams and was named to the Lancaster Recreation Commission All-Star team for five consecutive years as a centerfielder.
