Scholarship apps have changed with the deadline date being now April 1st. Carol has now taken over this task and has formed a selection committee who now will be selecting the winners for this.
The Hall of Fame banquet will be in Sioux Falls, and will be held at the Downtown Holiday Inn on October 30th. Tickets will be $30.00, and with the 2019 banquet again being held in Sioux Falls.
Helmet straps are mandatory for local and state tournament, but if the team plays in the National tournament they do not have to be used.
All equipment will be checked outside of the dugout before each game. Please have bats and helmets ready to be checked when the umpire arrives for the game.
The state umpire school will be held in Rapid City this year on April, 6 – 8. The cost is $70.00. Next year’s clinic will be held in Sioux Falls. Watch for more details to come out on this.
Revisions are being done on the website. If you are interested in advertising on the site, the cost is now $100.00 per year. This is a great opportunity for businesses, and leagues.
State Tournament information:
July 21 and 22.
Cost has been raised this year to $200.00. Numerous expenses have increased which makes it necessary to raise the fees.
Deadline date July 1st. On or before.
Please do not send in birth certificates when sending in your state roster, entry form and fee. Have them with you when you check in the team, as there will be checking done.
If wanting motel rooms for your team, please get them soon. Busy weekend in Sioux Falls.

2019 the state tournament will be in Watertown on July 20th and 21st, and 2020 Huron will host the tournament with the dates being July 18th and 19th.
Watertown will be hosting for the first time ever a youth co-ed tournament. Check out the tournament site on the state website for more information. (Exciting!!)
Recruiting of players and teams are necessary in all areas. Asking for help from everyone to assist with this. We need to increase the slowpitch programs numbers.
Each year, we continue to find metal cleats on boys and girls. This is NOT allowed. Please check to make sure your players are not wearing these. The shoes, if found, will be taken away and not given back until the team is done playing in the tournament.
If you are hosting an invitational tournament, the cost to sanction the tournament is $3.00 per team. This MUST be sent into the state office in Watertown before the start of the tournament games.
Individual registration has increased to $10.00 per player, and it is believed in the next couple of years, this will be the only way to become registered in the USA program. Team registration has increased this year of $5.00.
We would like to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Michael Engelston from Huron unto our state board. They will become the new area commissioners in that area.
Watertown will be hosting an early bird tournament this year, assisting teams that don’t usually get 5 games in before state tournament. Everyone is welcome to play. Find this information on the tournament site.
