Watertown teams won three of the four divisions in the 2017 USA Softball National Girls Slowpitch Tournament that concluded Sunday at Koch Complex.
Thirty-eight teams from South Dakota and Minnesota competed in the three-day tournament. Pool play was held on Friday, followed by double-elimination bracket play on Sunday.
Watertown champions included ABRA, which went 4-0 in bracket play to win the 12-and-under division; Metrix, which went 4-1 in bracket play to win the 14-and-under division and McDonald’s, which went 3-0 in bracket play to win the 18-and-under division.
ABRA downed Burnsville (Minn.) 9-4 in the 12-and-under championship.
Metrix dropped the opening 14-and-under division championship to the Engelstad Electric-Edward Jones Shocks of Watertown 22-17 before coming back to beat the Shocks 17-11 in the second championship game.
McDonald’s downed Duane’s Floor Covering of Watertown 12-6 in the 18-and-under title game.
Four other Watertown teams earned top-four finishes. The Rebels were third in 12-and-under and COFC Elite fourth in 14-and-under. Elite Exteriors finished third and J&B Screenprinting fourth in the 16-and-under division.
